NSW McDonald's Cup 2010 By BOTN writers
11/07/2010: FINAL Premier League Marconi Stallions eventually defeated Super League side Spirit FC on penalties in the NSW McDonald’s Cup Final held at Lily Homes Stadium, Seven Hills on Sunday. For 90 minutes Spirit matched their illustrious foes, then another 30 minutes of extra time, with Tim Simpson almost grabbing the trophy when he hit the post. Into dreaded penalties and Josh De Kelly and Tom Lovell were the two unfortunate Spirit FC players to miss their spot-kicks, as Christopher Nunes drove home the final and winning penalty for a 7-6 victory... 24/06/2010: Premier League Marconi Stallions now meet Super League side Spirit FC in the McDonald’s Cup Final to be held at Lily Homes Stadium, Seven Hills ('Gabbie') on Sunday 11th July 2010. Marconi along with most Premier League was not scheduled to play the day of the final day but Spirit's R17 Super League game versus Northern Tigers will have to be re-scheduled (tba). 23/06/2010: Semi Finals - Tuesday June 22nd June, Blacktown City FC lost 2-3 to Spirit FC at Lily Homes Stadium and progress to the Final; Wednesday June 23rd, Blacktown Spartans lost to Marconi Stallions 0-1 in extra time at Francis Park. 11/06/2010: Semi Finals - Tuesday June 22nd June, Blacktown City FC v Spirit FC – Lily Homes Stadium – 7.30pm; and Wednesday June 23rd, Blacktown Spartans v Marconi Stallions – Francis Park – 7.30pm

McDonald’s Cup Quarter Finals Results: Sutherland Sharks 0 lost to Blacktown City FC 2, Granville Rage 1 lost to Blacktown Spartans 3, Manly United 2 lost to Marconi Stallions 3, Spirit FC 2 defeated South Coast Wolves 0
25/05/2010: Round 4 (Round of 16) played: The fairy-tale run of Gwawley Bay came to an end. The Sutherland Association side fell 4-0 to Super League Spirit FC at Christie Park. South Coast Wolves have defeated Bankstown City Lions 1-0. Premier League Sutherland Sharks invited southern neighbours from the IPL Dandaloo Lions into the water and came away 4-1 victors. Granville Rage defeated Super League rivals 2-1 at Garside Park. Manly United had a 4-1 triumph over the wily Div 1 side Fairfield City Lions at Cromer Park. Blacktown Demons beat Sydney University 2-0. APIA Leichhardt Tigers went down 2-3 to Marconi Stallions. The big upset was Division 1 Blacktown Spartans getting up 4-3 over Sydney United on penalties, after extra time left them even 1-1.
11/05/2010: Round of 16 announced: Interesting match-ups see both Spirit FC and Sutherland Association’s Gwawley Bay avoiding Premier League sides at Christie Park, a derby of sorts at Seymour Shaw with Sutherland Sharks v Dandaloo Lions, and Fairfield City Lions v Manly United at Norford Park.
11/05/2010: Round 3 results - Tuesday night: Spirit 2 - Camden Tigers 0, Mounties 1 - Sydney Uni 7, Parramatta 1 - Fairfield City 2, Manly United 5 - Collaroy Cromer 1. On Wednesday Sutherland Shire's Gwawley Bay won a battle of Association sides and remained the only Association club left flying the flag as they defeated Blacktown’s Doonside Hawks 4-1. IPL's Dandaloo downed Div 1 hot-shots Hills Brumbies 4-1 to stay in the race. Other results: Blacktown City FC 7 - 0 Stanmore Hawks, Marconi Stallions 0 v 0, (1) v (0) West Sydney Berries, Granville Rage 3 v 2 Sydney Olympic, Hawkesbury City 0 v 4 Northern Tigers, Mosman 1 v 3 APIA Leichhardt Tigers, Sydney United 1 v 1, (4) v (2) Inter Lions, Bonnyrigg White Eagles 1 v 2 South Coast Wolves, St George FC 0 v 1 Sutherland Sharks , Bankstown City Lions 8 v 0 Schofields Scorpions, Blacktown Spartans 1 v 0 Rockdale City Suns. 04/05/2010: Further Round 2 results from Lidcombe Oval where Cup stalwarts Roosters FC lost to IPL powerhouses Dandaloo Lions 1-3. At Schofields CSI Ground Scorpions defeated Belmore Hercules 3-2 AET. 29/04/2010: There were too many games played on this day to list all the results; however some notables ones were: Fairfield City Lions taking Macarthur Rams to 3-3 after extra time and winning on penalties, Collaroy Cromer defeating an albeit underage Central Coast Mariners 4-2, and Hills Brumbies defeating FC Bossy Liverpool 3-1. 28/04/2010: In the match at Fraser Park Eastern Suburbs Association side Lokomotiv Cove was not good enough for Super League Sydney University, losing 0-2.
20-28/04/2010: On Tuesday 20 April St. Josephs Rydalmere defeated Pacific Hills Dural 2-1, and Dee Why beat Lidcombe Waratahs 2-1. On Wednesday 21 April the results were: Collaroy Cromer 3 - Dunbar Rovers 2, Hawkesbury City SC 2 - Auburn 1, and Mosman 4 - Coogee United 3
15/04/2010: The competition is well underway and Round 1 started this week. Results: Illawarra Premier League high flyers Dandaloo overcame some stiff resistance from the Shire, when they defeated Gymea United by a
1 - 3 scoreline on Wednesday night. Over at Lidcombe Oval Roosters FC defeated Kirrawee Kangaroos in extra time by 3 - 2.
07/04/10: Seven matches were washed out in the McDonalds Cup Preliminary Round after wet weather conditions gripped Sydney, and one light failure - played on Wednesday 7 April. Results: This year's Cup is still including playing mid-week, and with little fanfare but nevertheless it is great to have a NSW Cup and a sponsor. Perhaps one-day it be bigger still, and will lead into a proposed FFA Cup. 30/3/10: The Preliminary Round - this was held on Wednesday 31 March, 2010, prior to the official round 1. Local Association side Bangor Junior hosted NSW Div 2 side Fairfield Wanderers at Tiger Turf clad Seymour Shaw Park, Miranda with a resulting 0-5 scoreline. Sans Souci hosted Pagewood Botany at the waterfront Claydon Reserve where the home side ran out 2-1 winners. At an apparently well drained 'The Crest' ground Bankstown Sports Strikers went down 1-2 to Belmore Hercules.
