28/06/2010: Premier League Marconi Stallions now meet Super League side Spirit FC in the NSW McDonald’s Cup Final to be held at Lily Homes Stadium, Seven Hills ('Gabbie') on Sunday 11th July 2010. Marconi was not scheduled to play the day of the final but Spirit's R17 Super League game versus Northern Tigers will have to be re-scheduled ..

Australia 2 - Serbia 1

23/06/2010: The Qantas Socceroos' World Cup hopes in Group D were kept alive for most of the game but despite winning 2-1 against Serbia the game between Germany and Ghana ended in only a 1-0 win to Germany - not enough! Australia earn 4 points at this World Cup but Ghana goes through on goal difference.

20/06/2010: The Qantas Socceroos' World Cup hopes in Group D rested on a result against Ghana in Rustenberg on Sunday morning and after going down to 10 men with the dubious sending off of Harry Kewell after 25 mins the team played with heart, and continued to attack. Bring on Serbia and end the tournament with the same passion.

14/06/2010: The Qantas Socceroos' World Cup hopes in Group D were going down, goal by goal from Germany, in Durban as the sun was rising across Australia - with Tim Cahill's red card adding to Pim Verbeek's woes. Australia now move on to play Ghana on Saturday night and will need to win to keep their hopes alive.

05/06/2010: The Qantas Socceroos World Cup preparations continued tonight in Johannesburg, where the Socceroos lost 1-3 to team USA in a very solid hit-out for both sides before their opening games in a week's time. Falling behind in the first half Tim Cahill came up with a fine goal, but despite a better 2nd half the US strikers were too sharp.

Officially released by FFA today


The draw for the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season has been released today by Football Federation Australia (FFA). A-League Season 6 will kick off on with Round 1 on Thursday night 5 August with the newest club Melbourne Heart FC hosting the Central Coast Mariners FC at Melbourne Football Stadium (AAMI Park), with the Grand Final on second weekend of March, 2011. By playing more games on week-nights the 30 round premiership season will go over 27 weeks (with only 1 FIFA date break on October) and clubs still play each other three times only ..

Socceroos pre-cut squad for World Cup

11/05/2010: Qantas Socceroos Head Coach Pim Verbeek today announced his preliminary squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup which begins in South Africa next month. Beauchamp, Bresciano, Cahill, Carle, Carney, Chipperfield, Culina, Emerton, Federici, Galekovic, Garcia, Grella, Holland, Holman, Jedinak, Brad Jones, Kennedy, Kewell, Lowry, McDonald, Milligan, Moore, Neill, North, Oar, Rukavytsya, Schwarzer, Valeri, Vidosic, Wilkshire, Rhys Williams. As per FIFA regulations, Verbeek will only take a final squad of 23 players to South Africa for the tournament - which will be formally named on Saturday 1st June in South Africa ..
