In a game of two halves Premiers Sydney FC came through as Champions with a 3-2 win over Brisbane Roar at a warm and windy Endeavour Field today. After being down at half-time they turned it around with 3 goals before the visitors got a consolation

After an early first-half goal from Brisbane Roar striker Lana Harch, Sydney hit back in the second half with goals from Linda O'Neill, Sarah Walsh and Julie Rydahl to decide the match.

With a strong wind blowing into Sydney's faces, the Roar looked far superior in the first half. In the 11th minute Elise Kellond-Knight gave a warning when she shot just wide.

In the 15th minute Harch made a forward run and wind-assisted let fly from 25m past Nikola Deiter in the Sydney goal. 0-1

They went in at half-time with the vistors well on top, but with less chances that Sydney and the margin looking fragile.

The game was squared up in the 66th minute when young Linda O'Neill sent her shot into the top of the net after Heather Garriock and Sarah Walsh battled to get a pass in in the area. 1-1

Seven minutes later Sarah Walsh was sent on a run on the right by Kylie Ledbrook, and she steered the ball across and just wide of casey Dumont. 2-1

In the 75th minute Brisbane hit the woodwork with a defelction of Dieter from a header by Lauren Colthorpe, and that proved a crucial miss as three minutes later Danish midfielder Julie Rydahl shot over an advancing Dumont. 3-1

Brisbane were awarded a penalty in the 92nd minute and even Tameka Butt's conversion was not enough to stop Sydney FC from lifting high the Westfield W-League Championship trophy for 2009, season 2. 3-2

Sydney FC midfield general Kylie Ledbrook was awarded official Player of the Final following an impressive 90 minutes in the blazing heat at Shark Park.
