Australia's national women's football team, the Westfield Matildas, after their excellent appearance at the last World Cup in 2007, and their triumph over the pride of Asia to win the AFC Women's Asian Cup, now take on thw world! The new look squad competes in Germany in Group D:

From each of the two Groups (A&B) the top two countries go into the sudden-death semi-finals on 27 May, and winners to the final on 30 May, 2010. (Group A consists of North Korea (DPR) (holders), Myanmar, Japan, and Thailand).

The Women's World Cup is taking place between 26 June and 17 July, 2011 in Germany - with the best 3 from the 2010 Asian Cup qualifying - ie. Australia, DPR Korea, Japan participating
