NSW Waratah Cup 2011

This year's Cup is still including playing mid-week, and with little fanfare but nevertheless it is great to have a NSW Cup - Perhaps one-day it be bigger still, and will lead into a proposed FFA Cup.

10 July 2011: Final: Manly United FC have defeated Mounties Wanderers FC 4-0 in the Waratah Cup final at Bonnyrigg today. After going into the break at 0-0, goals by Scott Balderson 46', Adam Foti 60' pen, Jordan Edwards 88', and Justin Hayward 90', plus a red card to Rodden-Ward sealed Mounties fate.

24 June 2011: Semi finals: Manly United FC have defeated the South Coast Wolves FC 4-1, and will join the Mounties Wanderers FC who defeated Blacktown Spartans FC 3-2, in Sunday 10th July's Waratah Cup Final to be held at the Bonnyrigg Sports Club [Serbian Centre] with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.

21/22 June 2011: Quarter finals: Tuesday 21st June, 2011: Manly United defeated Hills Brumbies 2-1 in extra time at Cromer Park; Wednesday 22nd June, 2011: 7.30pm - South Coast Wolves 3 defeated Parramatta FC 1, APIA Leichhardt 0 was upset by Blacktown Spartans 2, and in another upset Sydney Olympic went down 1-2 in extra time to Mounties Wanderers.

1/6 - 8/6/2011: Round 4 commenced on Wednesday 1 June, with Super League leaders Macarthur Rams taking Premier League APIA Leichhardt to extra time at 3-3, with APIA running out winners 4-3. Other games will be played on Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th June. Also still in it were Fraser Park who played Manly, and Hills Brumbies who hosted Sydney United out at Second Ponds on the Wed. Blacktown Spartans 3 defeated Northbridge 1 on Tuesday 6 June. Other results: Sydney Olympic FC 3 beat Blacktown City FC 0, South Coast Wolves beat Bankstown City Lions 3-2 in extra time, Parramatta Eagles 3 defeated Sutherland Sharks 1, Mounties Wanderers did well to beat West Sydney Berries 3-1. Super League strugglers upset Sydney United Hills 1-0. Manly United FC 3 - Fraser Park 0, and Blacktown Spartans 3 defeated Northbridge FC 1.

21/5 - 25/5/2011: Round 3 commenced on Wednesday 18 May, with a further two games on 25 May - it saw the introduction of NSWPL sides. Super League Fraser Park was taken to extra time by Chopin Park Rams 4-3, Bonnyrigg White Eagles 2 - Sydney Olympic FC 3, Mounties Wanderers 2 - FC Gazy Lansvale 0, Blacktown City FC 3 disposed of Fairfield Bulls 0, Sydney United were taken to extra time by Sydney University 4-3, Bankstown City FC 1 - Schofields Scorpions 0, Mt Druitt Town Rangers were shocked 4-7 by Northbridge FC, Macarthur Rams 2 - Fairfield City Lions 1, Marconi Stallions were stunned 2-3 by West Sydney Berries, APIA Leichhardt Tigers 5 - Fairfield Wanderers 0, Blacktown Spartans overcame Port Kembla 3-1, Hills Brumbies 3 swept past Rockdale City Suns 1, Hawkesbury City FC 1 - South Coast Wolves 4, Granville Rage 0 - Sutherland Sharks 2. Manly United have set up a Fourth Round Waratah Cup tie against NSW Super League outfit Fraser Park after a hard fought 3-2 win over Dandaloo at Seymour Shaw.

20/4 - 12/5/2011: Round 2 commenced on Tuesday 26th April, with Fraser Park (NSWSL) hosting Pacific Hills Dural (GHFA) and 20 more games going over the next 9 days. On Wednesday 27 April Eastern Suburbs Association's Pagewood Botany had their run in the Cup halted by in a 0-5 loss to Super League's Granville Rage. Other results so far: Blacktown Spartans defeated Balmain 3-0 in extra time, Fraser Park 2 - Pacific Hills Dural 1, West Sydney Berries 4 - Stanmore Hawks 0, Mt. Druitt Town Rangers did well to overcome Dulwich Hill 2-1 in extra time, Mounties Wanderers disposed of Como West Janali 7-0, old foes Schofields Scorpions spoiled Bathurst 75s trip to Sydney winning 3-0, Camden Tigers went down 1-2 to Fairfield City Lions, Port Kembla 2 - Hurstville ZFC 1, FC Gazy Lansvale 2 - Picton Rangers 1, St George 7 thumped Inter Lions 3, Hakoah 0 - Dandaloo 1. 14/4/2011: Round 1 results in so far: Canberra FC 9 v Wagga United 1 , Bass Hill 1 - Northbridge FC 4, Collaroy Cromer on a forfeit, FC Gazy Lansvale 3 - Bonnet Bay 1, Eastwood St. Andrews 3 - Waverly Old Boys 0, Pacific Hills Dural 2 - Dunbar Rovers 1, Redbacks Football Club 2 - Como West Jannali 0 (AET), Hawkesbury City SC 6 - Enfield Rovers (B) 0, Chopin Park Rams 2 - Lidcombe Waratah 0, Dandaloo 'Lions' FC 7 - All Saints Oatley 1. On Thursday night: Caringbah Redbacks 1 - Pagewood Botany 4 (AET) , Glenmore Park 1 - Bathurst 75 3 (go the blues!), Hakoah 6 - Chullora Wolves 2, Fairfield Wanderers 2 - Belmore Hercules 1. 12/4/2011: Now Round 1 commences on Tuesday 12th April, with most games on Wednesday (see list). Bathurst are coming down to take on Glenmore Park at Parker St Reserve, Penrith on Thursday evening at 7:30pm, and Hakoah host Chullora Wolves. 6/4/2011 : The double header at the Crest Complex saw Sutherland Association’s Gymea United win a cliff-hanger 6-4 against State League Two outfit Luddenham United after the game ended at 4-4. Eastern Suburbs Association side Pagewood Botany defeated Bankstown Sports Strikers 2-0 while at Knight Park State League Two side Fairfield Wanderers romped home to an 8-1 smashing of Southern Districts side Olympic Eagles.

30/03/11: The Preliminary Round was held on Wednesday 30 March, 2011, prior to the official Round 1 'proper'. Sixteen matches were played across Sydney between various Association clubs as well as State League Two sides.

In addition a number of games were abandoned when timeouts or failure of lights occurred - Olympic Eagles v Fairfield Wanderers FC, Bankstown Sports Strikers v Pagewood Botany, Gymea United v Luddenham United

Round 1 will see the remaining State League Two clubs enter the fray, Round 2 will see Super League and State League One clubs enter while Round 3 will see all NSW Premier League clubs join. Twelve clubs have been given the bye and will be taking on their opponents in round 1 of the Waratah Cup but the positive sign from this season’s tournament is the increase of Association clubs – a total of 33 registered for 2011. There will be three teams from the Illawarra Premier League being Port Kembla, Picton Rangers and Dandaloo while ACT will have a representative team in Canberra City as well as a club team from Wagga Wagga.
