10/07/2011: Australia's Matildas were eliminated from the 2011 Women's Wolrd Cup by an experienced, some would say cynical, Swedish team by 3 goals to 1. Two quick goals in the opening minutes set the Swedes up, before a great strike from Ellyse Perry gave the Australians hope. [ BOTN report ...]

7/07/2011: Australia's Matildas came from behind to defeat Norway 2-1 through a brace by Kyah Simon. In a scrappy game the Australians rarely got their normal game going but were too strong for Norway and now meet Sweden in a Quarterfinal on Sunday evening at 8:30pm. [ BOTN report ...]

04/07/2011: Australia's Matildas kept their competition hopes alive with a 3-2 win over Equatorial Guinea in their Group D game. Despite a clear penalty being turned down and coughng up two soft goals through defensive errors the Australian dominated the game. They now play Norway on Thursday morning. [ BOTN report ...]
Men's International Football: U17 (Joeys)
30/06/2011: Australia's Joeys have been knocked out of the tournament with a 0-4 loss to their fellow Asian side Uzbekistan. The Joeys lost two men to red cards and were outplayed by the Uzbeks who now progress to play Uruguay in a quarter final.

30/06/2011: Brazil were forced to rely on a lone second-half strike from Rosana to overcome an impressive Australia 1-0 in Moenchengladbach early this morning. The Matildas often had the better of possession and had their chances but were unable to get one in the net. Norway defeated Equatorial Guinea in the other Group D game. [ BOTN report ...]

29/06/2011: Australia's 21 women squad for the FIFA Womens World Cup in Germany take on Brasil early in the morning 30 June 1.45am AusEast time in their first game in Group D. Men's International Football: U17 (Joeys)
28/06/2011: Australia's Joeys have progressed to the second stage of the FIFA U-17 World Cup. After their first clash was washed out they backed up to play Denmark and after going down in the first half and to 10 men, and being under the hammer for most of the game, they grabbed a very late equaliser for a 1-1 draw. As best third placed team the Joeys will play their fellow Asian qualifier Uzebeskistan on Thursday - who were strong opponents on last meeting (on SBS at 5:45am, after Matildas) - NZ are through also and play Japan.

24/06/2011: Brazil have secured their ticket to the last 16 with a narrow but dominating 1-0 victory over Australia's Joeys. They scored through an Adryan free-kick in the 76th minute, in their Group F encounter at the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Australia's last group game is against Denmark.

International Football: U23 (Olyroos)
23/06/2011: The Australian U23 team, the Olyroos, defeated Yemen 4-0 in the second leg of their London 2012 Olympic Games Asian Qualification Preliminary Round 2 held this evening in Newcastle. Goals to Jason Hoffman (3) and Aaron Mooy gave the U23's a 7-0 tally, and they move to the Asian Group stage.

Men's International Football: U17 (Joeys)
21/06/2011: The Joeys struggled against an impressive side from Côte d'Ivoire at the Estadio Guadalajara in their opening Group F match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Mexico 2011, but came back in the second half from behind to snatch a 2-1 win. Brasil defeated Denmark 3-0 in the other Group F game. In Group D New Zealand beat Australia's stumbling block in qualifiers Uzbekistan 4-1.

Men's International Football: U17 (Joeys)
20/06/2011: The Australian U17 team, the Joeys, play on Tuesday morning (Aus time) against Côte d'Ivoire at the Estadio Guadalajara in their opening Group F match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Mexico 2011. Also in the groups are Brasil and Denmark. Much of the squad are based at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). NZ also play, in Group D.

19/06/2011: The Australian U23 team, the Olyroos, dominated and defeated Yemen 3-0 in the first leg of their London 2012 Olympic Games Asian Qualification Preliminary Round 2 matches held this afternoon at Central Coast Stadium in Gosford in front of 2,597 fans.

14/06/2011: The Australian U23 team, the Olyroos, played a friendly against the visiting Young Lions on a very heavy training pitch at Blacktown Olympic Park behind doors today; and defeated them 6-0. Although often competitive the U23 Singaporeans were fragile in goal and in defence allowing the scoreline to balloon.

14/06/2011: Australia's squad for the FIFA Womens World Cup in Germany this month has been farewelled in Sydney prior to their assault on the word title to go with their Asian one. Teenagers Caitlin Foord and Teigen Allen have just received their baggy national 'caps' from the FFA (above) but will not be overawed as part of this dynamic side. Australia's women play in Group D, against top teams Brasil, and Norway, plus the enigmatic Equitorial Guinea from Africa. 08/06/2011: Australia's squad for the FIFA Womens World Cup in Germany this month has been announced. The Westfield Matildas squad coach Tom Sermanni has picked his 21-player squad to compete at this highest level. It contains 13 FIFA Women’s World Cup debutants and an average age of just under 22 making this team the youngest squad Australia has ever sent to a World Cup, with seven players under the age of 20. Match Officials Jacqui Melksham, Sarah Ho and Allyson Flynn will also go to Germany ....
