The AIS has defeated Melbourne Victory Youth 2-0 at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex on Saturday.

Victory went into the contest with seniors Grand Brebner, Jean-Carlos Solorzano and Tom Pondeljak. The AIS included Paul Izzo, Connor Chapman and Jacob Melling who all went to the Under 17 World Cup earlier in the year.

AIS' first chance was created on 5 minutes when Kwabena Boahene volleyed a cleared corner just over Keegan Coulter's net.

But AIS got another chance to open the scoring on 13 minutes and did so through Central Defender Jack Green. Daniel Petrov's poor ball was intercepted by the tall defender who beat another defender before finishing easily past Coulter.

Five minutes later influential midfield Melling was next to test Coulter but his free-kick went wide of the net.

Victory went straight up the other end as Solorzano's shot was comfortably saved by Izzo in goals.

On 25 minutes Victory could have equalised through Petrov but his header was headed down into the ground before Izzo made a fantastic save to keep Victory scoreless.

Five minutes later Melling tried an ambitious attempt from just in the opposition half as he saw Coulter off his line but the ball sailed wide.

Yet again Victory was up the other end quickly through Pondeljak who passed off to Melvin Becket. Although the Liberian born forward curled his left foot shot wide.

On 34 minutes AIS made it 2-0 through Benjamin Garuccio. Matthew Davies put in a decent cross but Petrov's failed attempt of a chest down was laid off to Garuccio who tucked it past Coulter.

Garuccio was looking for his brace but his curled shot was easily caught by Coulter.

AIS continued to push numbers forward as Melling curled his next effort wide of the top corner.

Half-time substitute John Buceto created the first chance of the half but his left footed strike didn't have enough power behind it.

On 59 minutes Solorzano could have halved the deficit but his attempt from Pondeljak's brilliant ball was tapped wide; probably the best chance of the game.

Yianni Perkatis and John Karatzas both had chances to put Victory away but their poor finishes let them down.

Melling yet again on 86 minutes could have scored but it was well saved by Coulter.

Victory remains pointless and AIS move onto 9 points jumping Adelaide temporally. AIS and Victory would take each other on again in the rescheduled round 2 fixture on Wednesday in Canberra.
