06/10/2011: In a thrilling and see-sawing first game the Westfield Young Matildas have defeated Vietnam 4-3 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in the AFC U19 Women’s Championship 2011. A first half goal to Linda O'Neill 11 minutes in, and a hat-trick to Emily Gielnik in the 60, 62, and 73 minutes. They next play DPR Korea on Saturday 8th. Also in other news the U17s have lost and drawn in Auckland versus NZ in two of three friendlies.

04/10/2011: The 2010-2011 Hyundai A-League season 7 was launched early on Monday morning 4 October, 2011 at the Sydney Football Stadium. The theme of "We are football" was written out on the pitch by the fans who were able to attend. A season with a lot riding on it and lots of interest - whetted by the signings of Socceroos Brett Emerton and Harry Kewell, and today the sacking of Jets coach Branko Culina before a ball has been kicked.

04/10/2011: The Westfield Young Matildas are in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to compete in the AFC U19 Women’s Championship 2011 against five other Asian countries to qualify for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Uzbekistan 2012. The 23-player squad will play their first match against hosts Vietnam on October 6 at Thong Nhat Stadium. As the qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2012 in Uzbekistan, they will be played over a 10 day period (October 6-16) round robin tournament vs China, DPR Korea, Korea Republic, Japan & hosts Vietnam. Caitlin Friend was a late addition. In other news the U17 Australian women’s team are in New Zealand to play three friendly matches in Auckland.

Season 4 W-League Fixtures released ![]()
27/09/2011: Football Federation Australia (FFA) have today released the Westfield W-League 4th season (2011/12) draw. The seven team competition play 35 matches over the a limited 12 week season from the October 21 start until January 15, 2012, finishing on January 28 with the Westfield W-League 2012 Grand Final. ABC TV will again cover the ‘match of the week’ live and exclusive on ABC1 throughout. This season also sees a host of new coaches enter the league, including some imports, thus perhaps varying the tactics and styles of play ...

27/09/2011: Qantas Socceroos Head Coach Holger Osieck today named his 19-man squad for the upcoming international friendly match against Malaysia (in Canberra on Friday 7 October 2011) and subsequent 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian Group 'D' Qualifier against Oman (Sydney, Tuesday 11 October 2011). Notable omissions are Socceroo A-League recruits Brett Emerton and Harry Kewell.
