Sydney FC climb to third place with a come from behind win in Newcastle. The Jets had Topor-Stanley missing through injury and Nick Carle who won the Johnny Warren medal in 2007 with the Jets returned to his old ground.

The visitors create the first chance as Carle and Emerton combine to find Kisel but his shot flies over the cross bar.

On 13 minutes Wheelhouse crosses for Jeffers, he is unmarked and in front of goal but blasts over the cross bar.

The home side is dominating and it is no surprise that they take the lead as Zadkovic robs Beauchamp and races down the wing and gets a cross in that McFlynn can only head up into the air, the ball falls for Brockie who smashes the ball home with a right foot volley, its 1-0 Jets.

On 38 minutes a Elrich through ball has Jeffers clear, but Reddy comes out to block the chance.

The final minutes of the first half has Sydney dominating and Petratos races away, he finds Carle unmarked, Carle goal bound shot is blocked by Kennedy and the half ends.

A turning point comes early in he second half as Wehrman beats several defenders on a wonderful run that takes him to be in front of goal but as he is about to pull the trigger he is off balance and loses possession.

Sydney now dominate play and its Reddy who creates the leveller with a clever clearance that has Carle free on the wing he finds Petratos who crosses for Kisel who finds Cazarine in front of goal, he taps in to level 1-1.

The hosts do create as a Sung-hwan free kick is flicked to the far post where Haliti can’t get a telling header in.

The Jets look out of sorts and the visitors continue to dominate, Sydney camp in the Jets half. A Kisel free kick finishes over the cross bar, young Mitchell Mallia chips a wonderful effort just wide of the cross bar and Carle blasts one that Kennedy to forced to save two handed.

On 83 minutes a Kisel corner finds Bosschaart he crosses for Makela to head home from close range, its 2-1 Sydney.

The final minutes has the home team struggling to create an opening and Payne is guilty of firing over the cross bar with a opportunity, it ends 2-1 for Sydney, the Jets missing a great chance to move into the top 3.

The small group of visiting fans give their team a standing ovation at the final whistle.
