The 8th season of the A-League was launched on Tuesday 2 October, 2012, simultaneously, at Parramatta (NSW) and in Melbourne (VIC). In a first for the Hyundai A-League, representatives from each of the clubs were split between two venues with the coaches and a selection of players from the Central Coast Mariners, Newcastle Jets, Sydney FC, Wellington Phoenix and Western Sydney Wanderers at Parramatta Stadium whilst representatives from Adelaide United, Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Heart, Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory were at AAMI Park in Melbourne.

Parramatta got the bonanza, with three superb imports in the flesh, but more on that later. Firstly outgoing FFA CEO Ben Buckley picked the mood accurately this time, when he said there was "a buzz through this room and the country" about the A-League season starting this Friday.

Hyundai Australia CEO Edward Lee underlined the progress made to date by confirming a further four year naming sponsorship by Hyundai for the league. ""Some eight years after committing to the Hyundai A-League, I am delighted to announce that Hyundai will remain the official naming rights partner for the Hyundai A-League for a further four years, through to 2016".

Interviewed were coaches Ricky Herbert (Welligton Phoenix), Ian Crook (Sydney FC), Graham Arnold (Central Coast Mariners), Tony Popovic (Western Sydney Wanderers), and Gary van Egmond (Newcastle Jets).

Emile Heskey, Sinji Ono, Alessandro Del Piero were all at the A-League launch at Parramatta and spoke positively about the league and their relatively short experience personally and with their clubs.

Round 1 of the 8th season starts this Friday, 5 October 2012 with the Melbourne derby between Victory and the Heart.
