Melbourne Victory women have consigned Adelaide United to their fifth straight defeat of the season, comprehensively routing the Lady Reds 4-0 at Lakeside Stadium.

Christine Nairn opened the scoring with a bullet from distance, while Amy Jackson was the day’s hat-trick hero, leaving the visitors outright last on the ladder after five rounds.

Lisa De Vanna was menacing early on, shooting wide from distance and linking up well with Nairn to almost generate the first meaningful attempt on goal.

The contest was scrappy early on, with Adelaide trying to stifle Victory’s attacks, and the tactic was initially effective as the hosts struggled to generate chances on goal.

It took one moment of brilliance from Nairn to open the scoring half an hour into the contest, when she picked up the ball from 25 yards, took a touch and struck past Melissa Barbieri.

Victory nearly had another goal minutes later when Amy Jackson dribbled the ball into the box following a set piece, but this time Barbieri prevented a clear chance to score.

Lisa De Vanna was victory’s culprit moments later, picking up a cross from Gema Simon and missing high from point blank range.

It capped off a dominant but wasteful half from the girls in navy blue, who restricted Adelaide to not a single shot on target.

After the break Victory again came out attacking, and Amy Jackson doubled the advantage in the 59th minute when she controlled Simon’s delivery into the box and struck truly.

Lisa-Marie Woods had Adelaide’s first clear cut chance on target minutes later, with Brianna Davey needing two nibbles to hold onto her powerful shot.

Even though the contest was effectively wrapped up, two late scrambled goals to Amy Jackson blew the scoreline out to 4-0, a deserving result for a dominant Victory.
